Introduction: Chronic COVID syndrome, characterized by symptoms like chronic fatigue syndrome and fibromyalgia, has prompted researchers to explore potential treatments. In this study, the effectiveness of a combination of coenzyme Q10 and alpha lipoic acid was investigated as a nutritional approach to alleviate these symptoms.
The Study: A total of 174 patients with chronic COVID syndrome participated in the study, divided into two groups. One group received the combination treatment, while the other group received no intervention. The primary goal was to measure the reduction in fatigue severity.
Results: The group receiving the combination treatment exhibited a higher rate of complete responses, with 53.5% achieving a complete response compared to 3.5% in the control group. Moreover, the treatment group had a lower percentage of non-responders (9.5% vs. 25.9% in the control group).
Implications and Future Research: These findings suggest the potential efficacy of coenzyme Q10 and alpha lipoic acid in managing chronic COVID syndrome. However, further research is necessary to validate these results, including conducting double-blind, placebo-controlled trials with longer durations.
Conclusion: The combination of coenzyme Q10 and alpha lipoic acid shows promise in reducing symptoms associated with chronic COVID syndrome. Additional research efforts should focus on confirming these findings through rigorous clinical trials.
